There is a Children & Young Persons' Officer (CYPO) within the Doncaster Urban Safer Neighbourhood Area, who has responsibility for all primary and secondary schools in this area.

The CYPO's priority is to reduce antisocial behaviour in and around schools, through working with young people at risk of becoming involved in offending behaviour. Police are welcomed into schools to deliver presentations including drug and alcohol awareness and personal safety. These complement the Missdorothy.com programme currently being run in schools.

They work in partnership with community groups & partner agencies including the Youth Offending Team, Families First and Remedi. With these partners, he runs workshops aimed at raising self-esteem, improving inter-personal skills, increasing risk awareness and explaining behaviour and consequences to young people.

To help combat under age drinking, the officer carries out test purchase operations at premises stocking alcohol. Working alongside Doncaster Council's education welfare officers, they carrying out truancy operations. They also has joint responsibility for training and managing the Doncaster Voluntary Police Cadets.
