Action for Stanningtion is a charity organisation chaired by volunteer Danny Piermatte. The organisation is run from the Woodside Centre on Wood Lane Stannington and it aims to offer young people the opportunity and experience to get outside and learn new skills while raising their self esteem, teamworking skills and help to keep their home villiage of Stannington tidy and attractive.
The work undertaken is generally tending to the flowers and plants at Stannington Park, graffiti removal, gardening services for the residents of stannington and keeping the park litter free. This work is completed on a weekly basis. Action for Stannington has helped young people to realise their potential by giving them the respect and understanding they deserve which in turn has encouraged a more respectful and mature outlook on life and work.
