On Tuesday the 10th January 2012, local Police Community Support Officer Anna Smith worked with Chris Lukins, South East Assembly Officer (Environmental Enforcement) to address reports of littering and dog fouling within the Safer Neighbourhood Area.
Patrols were conducted around Birley Moor Road shops, a regular spot for litter to accumulate where no offences were witnessed. Additional checks were made at Ballifield Drive shops, another common spot for litter related nuisance.
From liaison with the public at Handsworth it became apparent there is a concern of dog fouling on the grass verges around the Ballifield Drive area. Signs were erected by Chris during patrolsĀ and additional joint patrols are scheduled in for next week to identify those responsible, where fixed penalty notices may be issued.
