Rotherham South Safer Neighbourhood

Team (SNT) is rolling out its computer

games club for teenagers and young

people at four locations across the area.

The project is back by popular demand after a trial at the beginning of the year proved successful in deterring

children and young people away from acts of antisocial behaviour (ASB). With funding from the local Area Assembly, there are now four clubs across the Rotherham South area.

“We have about 80 young people on our books, aged between ten and 20-years-old,” said PCSO Supervisor

Dane Plant from the SNT. “The club offers children a great opportunity to interact and play with their friends in a safe

environment, away from the dangers and temptations associated with hanging out on street corners or in parks

at night. “We have PS3, X-Box and Wii consoles available with a vast range of games to suit all tastes.”

SNT officers receive support from Rotherham Wardens and local volunteers who help supervise the clubs and

ensure everyone has a good time. “We always welcome new members to the clubs,” said PCSO Supervisor Plant. “If anyone would like to join, just come along on one of the nights, or give the SNT a call for further details.”

The clubs are held at the following locations and times:

• Broom Valley Club Rooms, every Friday at 6pm

• Whiston Church on the High Street, every Monday at 6pm

• Canklow School at 3.30pm every Thursday (exclusively for the school’s children only)

• Springwell Methodist Church, Eastwood, every Saturday at 6pm
