Officers from Wentworth South Safer Neighbourhood Team have been targeting Nuisance Motorbikes with a no nonsense approach. They have worked with the South Yorkshire Police Off-Road Motorcycles and Mounted Departments to target and deter nuisance vehicles.
Not only are these vehicles noisy, cause annoyance and damage land they can be extremely dangerous to the people riding them, pedestrians and other vehicles.
Special operations working with the SNT, RMBC ASBO Unit and RMBC Environmental Crime are often conducted to identify and deal with such offences.
Over the past 6 months the SNT have issued 65 warnings and seized 16 vehicles.
The majority of the vehicles seized were destroyed however some were returned to the owners who had to pay a minimum of £175 to get their vehicle back.
These operations will continue to run on a regular basis to address the problem
