Officers from Woodhouse & Mosborough Safer Neighbourhood Area have conducted a further test purchase operation on the 17.1.2012.

Using local volunteers (under 18 years of age), licensed premises have been visited and the volunteer has attempted to purchase alcohol, admitting their true age only if challenged by the seller. Out of the ten premises visited 9 passed refusing to sell alcohol whilst one did sell to the volunteers. This premise may now be fined and further work carried out at the location to ensure this does not occur again.

Inspector Jason Booth says " it is essential that licensed premises act responsibly and challenge those who are attempting to buy alcohol and may be under 18, there is no excuse for selling under age.  We also ask the public to decline any requests from young people stood outside off licences to purchase alcohol for them".

Further test purchases will continue to take place to ensure the vigilance of licence premise staff.
