Barnsley town centre Crime and safety subgroups are set up by South Yorkshire Police in order that we may speak with members of your community and find out what issues are arising, not only legal issues but any issues that may effect quality of life.

The groups usually consist of between 4 - 8 people and have a chair person, a secretary a Police Officer and/or a Police Community Support Officer and other members of public and membership is by invitation.

The groups meet on average once every 4- 6 weeks.

A quote from a member.

"I thought we had problems in our area but after coming to the meeting and listening to others, our problems seem insignificant, And gave me reassurance."
