Officers from the South SNT were recently involved in operation Dunlin – an initiative set up in response to local landowners suffering problems with poaching and wildlife crime. Officers from across the force were utilised to provide a dedicated response to calls from stakeholders. They were deployed to key locations and relied on prompt incident reporting to ensure every opportunity was seized to locate and process offenders.

One person was arrested, 3 vehicles were seized under the Police Reform Act, 2 Prohibition Notices were served on vehicles, 1 first warning was issued under the Police Reform Act, 7 people were Reported on Summons for poaching offences, 1 person was reported for driving document offences, 3 endorsable fixed penalty tickets and 7 non endorsable fixed penalty tickets were issued.

The South SNT are committed to working with local landowners to continue tackling these issues and will be looking to organise future operations.
