South Yorkshire Police, DMBC, VOSA, Customs and Excise took part in an operation, primarily aimed at stopping commercial vehicles potentially carrying trade waste. However, each vehicle stopped had its tank dipped for red diesel and was examined for any defects.
In total 81 vehicles were stopped,
SYP issued 5 fixed penalty notices for various offences and one notice for no road tax,
DMBC advised 7 motorists about waste licences and prosecuted 3 for carrying trade waste without a licence,
VOSA prohibited 7 vehicles with defects,
Customs and Excise issued a £500 fine to one motorist for using red diesel
