We did: 

8th December 2011 - Priority adopted as a result of 'Have Your Say' consultation carried out with residents of Mercel Avenue. This highlighted concern with speeding vehicles travelling along the street. Specific timings were morning and tea time, consistent with the journey to and from work. Residents perception is that drivers are using this as a short cut to avoid standing traffic. Speed enforcement will be carried out by staff from the Safer Neighbourhood Team. Area Officers will also deploy the Digital Speed Display equipment.

9th December 2011 - PCSO Hamill and Area Officer Debbie Ward carry out patrols of the street this afternoon, monitoring speed and flow of traffic

14th December 2011 - Speed equipment deployed this afternoon by PC Lightfoot - no excessive speed noted.

16th December 2011 - PC Lightfoot deployed the speed device between 2.45pm and 3.30pm today. Maximum speed checked was 31mph.

21st December 2011  - PC Lightfoot deployed the speed device this morning between 8.45am and 9.10am -maximum recorded speed was 32mph.

7th January 2012 - PC Lightfoot deployed the speed device this afternoon. One motorist was stopped and advised regarding their speed - 40mph. The remainder of vehicles were within the spped limit, maximum 31mph.

12th January 2012 - At the PACT meeting held this evening residents were updated about this priority. It was agreed to retain it for a further month to allow further checks to be carried out.

17th January 2012 - Speed enforcement checks carried out today by PC Lightfoot. Several motorists were cautioned about excess speed and one motorist, a taxi driver was issued with an endorsable fixed penalty notice for travelling at 47mph.

18th January 2012 - PC Lightfoot carried out speed enforcement checks this afternoon. A number of motorists were stopped and advised about their speed. The vast majority of motorists were driving within the limit.

 2nd February 2012 - At the PACT meeting held today, residents were updated about this priority. It was agreed to archive this in view of the low number of incidents where speeding is being recorded. Officers will continue to monitor this area and carry out speed enforcement where possible.
