What issues concerned you most in your area?
At the PACT meeting on Wednesday 23rd March 2011 you told us that you were concerened about people causing nuisance and behaving in an antisocial way on Lee Avenue at Deepcar. You told us that this was occuring between 4pm and 10pm.
At subsequent meetings it was agreed to also cover Woodroyd Road in this priority too.
In November it was decided to incorporate Ridal Avenue in Stocksbridge into this priority, as it had previously been listed as a separate priority previously.
When you identify a new priority to us our first response will always be to note the area for increased patrols, both by local officers and support officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team, and also by the response teams. At the same time we will be looking deeper into the issue and checking what information and history we have for the problems, so that we can plan the most effective way to deal with it. We will update you here with our progress.
UPDATE for JUNE
The increased patrols in the area have continued, and there has been a slight reduction in reported incidents accordingly. We are planning for the school summer holidays, which have historically seen a rise in youths hanging around on the streets and problems which come with that.
UPDATE for October
We have conducted a series of 'test purchase' operations in the Deepcar and Stocksbridge area, checking that licensed premises were not serving underage people with alcohol. Only one premises failed and has been dealt with for this through a fine. It has to be seen as a positive step that all the other premises complied with the law and refused service to young people, as alcohol can often be a contributing factor in antiscocial behaviour.
UPDATE for November
Following the incorporation of Ridal Avenue into this PACT priority, we can report that there have been several positive steps towards tackling antisocial behviour in that area. Several local youths were traced last months and were spoken to, along with their parents. Since then these youths have not been involved in further problems.
Additional patrols in the area will continue throughout the winter, but we have just seen the Halloween period pass without the usual increase in incidents.
If you have any information in relation to this, or any other priority, in the area, please call the SNT direct on 0114 296 4912 and leave a message, or dial 101 for police callhandlers at any time.
