Residents again agreed to keep this as a priority for the coming period. Incidents of anti-social behaviour on the Cloughfields Estate, Hoyland.
SPRINGWOOD ROAD / OAK CLOSE / REDWOOD CLOSE
Community Inteligence shows that incidents are most likely to occur at weekends and during the evenings on week days, between the hours of 16.00 - 23.30 hours.
(1) Hoyland snt has increased high visibility patrols within the area, focussing its attention on areas where they have recieved reports from the local community regarding 'youths gathering' and creating problems for residents and retailers.
(2) Wherever possible graffitti is removed by the Council as soon as reported. Investigations are on going to identify the offenders. Any information can be passed either on contact line 01226 736457 of through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555111.
(3) Clough’s walkabout – multi agency walk-about to ascertain how parts of the estate can be made safer and cleaner. Discussions around reducing ASB and criminal behaviour. The main operation will take place in November.
(4) These area's will be monitored by Hoyland SNT officers and Bernslai Homes enforcement officers, joint visits have and will continue to be carried out on residents in these area's.
Regular patrols in this area are ongoing on the estate. SNT officers, Anti-Social behaviour team officers and Mounted Officers have been directed to patrol at relevant times. Various well known youths have been stopped and searched.
Officers recently found and dismantled a small Cannabis Cultivation set up on Redwood Close, the offender receiving a caution.
Operation Bala - testing of local off licences to ensure they are not selling alcohol to local youths.
Operation Blueprint - plain clothed patrols to combat youth nuisance and shed burglaries in the area.
Police Officer and PCSO shifts were changed in order to patrol in relevant places at relevant times which has seen a decrease in reports of ASB in the area. Groups of youths have been stopped and spoken to and ASB letters nad acceptable behaviour contracts issued to a number of youths in the area.
Houses where reports of smells of cannabis were visited, on two occasions the occupants were found in possession of small amounts of cannabis for personal use. The occupants were formally cautioned in relation to the offences and the council informed of the tenant's behaviour which contravened their tenancy agreement. This was done in an effort to reduce ASB within the areas and prevent local residents have to put up with people congregating at addresses and smoking drugs and having to ut up with the smell of cannabis from these addresses.
