Complaints of Nuisance Youths, litter and damage to the recreation grounds at The Walk, Eastdene.
Rotherham South have installed CCTV cameras in 'The Walk' to further enhance our proactive approach towards tackling these issues.
These have proved highly successful and thanks must go to the Rother South Area Assembly Team who secured the funding.
Police Officers and PCSO's can view the cameras from a lap top computer which they take out with them on patrol. If an incident occurs whilst the team are not on duty we can go back and review the footage to try and identify the perpetrators
The recent CCTV installation has been reviewed and it has become evident that this project has drastically reduced reports of Anti-Social Behaviour, litter issues and Damage to street furniture. In addition foot patrols have been increased and will continue throughout 2009.
At the PACT Meeting on 5th May this was replaced by a new priority. The cameras and the work in The Walk will continue and be incorporated into the long term plan for the East Dene area. If you have any views on the effectiveness of the cameras would would appreciate your feedback.
