You said: 

Growing numbers of young people are gathering on the park area behind Brinsworth Pavilion in the evenings to drink alcohol. This is resulting in rowdy behaviour and recent damage. On Whitehill Road, groups of young people are acting in a rowdy and abusive manner, particular at and around the Premier Off-licence and store

We did: 

Action Plan:

  • We will visit residents on Whitehill Road and in other homes surrounding Brinsworth Park to advise them of the priority and to seek their assistance in solving the problem by providing information to us
  • We will proactively visit local off-licences to warn about alcohol sales to under 18's and we will request test purchases by our colleagues in Trading Standards
  • We will provide advice to the staff at Premier stores on how to best deal with groups of young people intent on causing problems
  • We will provide regular, high visibility patrols in the area
  • We will seize alcohol from under 18's and we will take action to deal with any person committing offences or engaged in anti-social behaviour
  • We will request the assistance of Youth Services to help engage with young people and direct them to other available activities
  • We will consider the deployment of mobile CCTV cameras to the area

28/06/10 -Carried out foot patrol in the park all quiet. Gave passing attention to the shops top of whitehill road no problems. Area was given passing attention thru the evening -no problems

30/06/10 Mobile patrols around tyhe park and shops on Whitehill Road no problems no incidents reported.

01/07/10 No patrols this evening as PCSO's assisting with a burglery incident in the local area.

02/07/10 - This evening there was a fair on Brinsworth park as part of the Brinsworth Gala celebrations happening all weekend, Throughout the early evening there were no reports of underage drinking or disorder from the fair. As the fair ended there was reports of large groups of young persons who wouldn't leave the park. officers were called to help disperse the group. this took around an hour to do. whilst this caused no problems there were reports of youths running through the gardens of residents whose houses back on to the park this was partly due to a gate ajoining the park to Brinsworth lane being locked. Also reports were given to the police thet the Shop that lies within the PACT area was selling alcohol to minors, both incidents will be looked into.

12/07/10 Passing attention whilst in the ASB car carried out foot patrol on the park all quiet no reports or issues

14/7/2010 - Mobile ASB patrol carried out. No incidents reported and nothing to report.

15/7/2010 - Passing attention given to the Park, nothing to report and no incidents reported.

16/7/2010 - Passing attention given to the Park, nothing to report and no incidents reported.

17/7/2010 Mobile patrols around the park and shops on Whitehill Road. We didn't come across any problems no incidents were reported.

20/07/10 Passing attention given to park and shops whilst on mobike patrol. No inc's reported.

21/07/10 Mobile patrol carried out around shops and park nothing to report no incidents.

22/07/10 A test purchase operation was conducted in partnership with Trading Standards at every off licensed premise in the Brinsworth area. All premises refused to sell alcohol to the underage subject.

23/07/10 Police officers from the SNT, assisted by Special Constables, patrolled the park area on foot during the evening. The park was being well used by a moderate number of young people.

At the PACT meeting held in Catcliffe Memorial Hall, 2.00pm Monday 26.7.10, it was agreed that this priority could be discharged due to the decrease in problems
