It has been over two years since I took over the role of SNA Inspector for this Safer Neighbourhood Area. The team has seen a lot of change and hopefully the community has seen a positive change where we have had chance to be an influence.
Anti Social Behaviour fell last year in the Safer Neighbourhood Area for the first time in three years and Crime continues to fall year on year. We have made a tremendous difference in combating acquisitive crime and we have reduced the number of Vehicle crime offences in the area again. Last year we reduced Criminal Damage offences by 23%.
I believe we have made significant headway in our engagement processes and our ability to communicate and respond to the community needs, improves daily. We have redesigned our PACT process with more of a focus on getting out and about in the community as opposed to waiting for the community to come to us.
The establishment of our team is the Inspector, two Sergeants, 11 Police Constables, a Police Community support Supervisor and 14 Police Community Support Officers. We continue to provide core hour coverage between 10am and 10pm but we do work later at weekends and for key events.
PACT Meeting (Partners And Communities Together)
Shiregreen Meetings - 1st Tuesday of Every Month 3pm to 5pm at Hartley Brook Shops
Firth Park Meetings - 1st Thursday of Every Month 12pm to 1pm in Firth Park Centre and again at 6pm to 7pm in the Pakistani Advice Centre, Page Hall Road
Burngreave Meetings - 1st Wednesday of Every Month 3pm to 5pm on Ellesmere Green.
Lastly, I’d like to get more information out to you and make us more accessible. One of our failings, is that we don’t tell you enough of what we are up to and we tend to assume that you know. A number of my team are now using Twitter to send out messages and we have a Facebook page dedicated to policing in this SNA. Please feel free to follow us or view our page.
Regards Simon
