Based at Attercliffe Police Station, this area is led by Inspector Paul Ferguson who joined the team in February 2011.  The team consists of Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers, Special Constables, a Safer Neighbourhoods Officer and a Crime Reduction Officer.  We also have a dedicated CID team.

This area consists of two Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNT), Darnall/Attercliffe/Tinsley and Meadowhall. We are dedicated teams who are visible, accessible and familiar to your communities.

Inspector Ferguson said, "I am looking forward to leading the Darnall and Tinsley SNT.  I intend to build upon the work of my predecessor by reducing crime and anti-social behaviour still further.  I will take the team forward to deliver its very best for the residents, visitors and businesses we serve.

I bring to the area enthusiasm and commitment to the issues which affect the diverse communities of Darnall and Tinsley.  I have worked in Sheffield for all of my career, enjoying a variety of roles including criminal investigation and response policing.  I have also led the Woodhouse and Mosborough SNTs where I ensured the team successfully targeted criminals, drove down crime and tackled anti-social behaviour in all it’s forms.  I will bring this experience to your area and am excited about this new challenge.  I look forward to delivering my best for you.”

Through the hard work of the SNT and partners, figures show that between October and December 2010 overall crime fell by 141 fewer incidents compared to the same period the previous year.  Whilst these results are encouraging, the team will continue to strive for further improvement.  We encourage members of the local community to come along to the community meetings and have your say on the issues that concern you the most.  Our teams tackle issues that affect people's day-to-day lives, like criminal damage and nuisance behaviour. Besides simply responding to incidents, the teams work with residents and our partners whome we serve to pinpoint problems and try to find long-term solutions.  We aim to reduce local crime, bring more offenders to justice, and address quality of life issues through a problem-solving approach with communities.
